Academic Success Center and Writing & Communication Studio
Students are encouraged to enhance their learning by meeting with the tutors and academic coaches in the Academic Success Center.
The Academic Success Center (ASC) is a student-focused space providing free academic support programming to all York College undergraduates. The ASC helps students reach their educational goals through tutoring services, academic coaching, and supplemental instruction. In the ASC, students can schedule one-on-one appointments and/or attend review sessions with a math tutor. Students can also consult with our Academic Coaches, learning about strategies they can use to enhance their study skills. Peer tutors, recommended by professors of select courses, meet with students daily to explain concepts and support their academics.
The ASC is open weekdays and evenings when classes are in session. An appointment system and a listing of drop-in hours and available tutors are accessible online. The ASC is in HUM01.
The Writing & Communication Studio (WCS) offers support for students working on writing for any class or personal or professional purposes. Appointments are available with a peer or experienced tutors both in person or via Zoom. The WCS also offers asynchronous online appointments through the Drop-Off Essay Review service. In addition, the WCS offers workshops and quiet space to get your writing done.
The Writing & Communication Studio has appointments available during weekdays and evenings, and Drop-Off Essay Review appointments are available 7 days a week. An appointment system is accessible online. The Writing & Communication Studio is located in HUM11.
