Honor Thy Father

YCP grad Shelby Seaton '13 turned to photography to help her deal with a family tragedy. In 2012 her father Rodney Seaton was walking on Market Street in York with her brother when someone shot at them from a car. Her father pushed his son to the ground and was struck by a bullet and died. It was a case of mistaken identity but that did nothing to ease the family's grief. To help her get out of the house, Seaton began what she calls her "365

To help her get out of the house, Seaton began what she calls her "365 project" where she took a photo every day for a year. This evolved into a three-year project. Her photos were displayed at Marketview Arts in an exhibition dedicated to her father. Twenty percent of the proceeds from each sale was donated to Mr. Sandy's Veteran's Homeless Shelter.
