Young Alumni Council

Leading the way for young alumni

The Young Alumni Council is an advisory board for York College helping to shape and establish programming for recent graduates. The Council focuses on increasing the shared connection between young alumni and the College and advises the Office of Alumni Relations on programming and events, volunteer opportunities, and communications.

The Young Alumni Council was founded in 2010 and consists of approximately 25 Council members and three student representatives.

    • Serve as an advisory board to the College on behalf of young alumni.
    • Increase young alumni engagement and participation in the annual campaign.
    • Instill the notion of Spartan for Life by assisting in the transition of graduates from student to alumni.

    • Attend four Council meetings each year.
    • Make a personal best gift to the York College Fund.
    • Serve as an active member on one of four committees.
    • Actively participate in Council and College programming and events.

    Career Development & Leadership Committee

    • Identify and advise the College on the professional development and networking needs of young alumni.
    • Engage young alumni in mentorship and networking opportunities for students. 

    Development Committee

    • Work with the York College Fund Office to assist with securing resources for the College.
    • Support the Senior Class Gift campaign to assist in the transition from student to alumni.
    • Advise the College on appropriate strategies and methods to communicate the importance of philanthropy to young alumni.

    Nominations Committee

    • Oversee the recruitment and retention of Council members each year.
    • Collect and compile an appropriate number of Council member nominations each year to fill vacant positions.

    Outreach Committee

    • Plan and execute young alumni specific programming and events on campus and regionally.
    • Advise the College on improving overall alumni events and marketing to better appeal to young alumni.
