Music

York College’s Division of Music proudly presents another season of exciting performances in the 700-seat Waldner Performing Arts Center and the 200-seat DeMeester Recital Hall. All events are free and open to the public.

The 2017-2018 series will be highlighted by several exciting guest artist performances, made possible by a generous gift from the Boustead Family Foundation. The season will include residencies and performances by acclaimed composer Judah Adashi, distinguished violinist Odin Rathnam, and rising opera star Ashraf Sewailam. The season will also feature performances by talented faculty artists and student ensembles, culminating in spring performances of The Addams Family.

All events are free and open to the public.

DeMeester Recital Hall
The U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants are a military chorus of the U.S. Air Force.

DeMeester Recital Hall
This concert will feature Ashraf Sewailam’s many talents with pianist Kenneth Osowski. This event is made possible thanks to a generous gift from the Boustead Family Foundation.
Chamber Players
York Chamber Players: Appalachian Spring
March 23 at 7:30 p.m.
DeMeester Recital Hall
In this recital, The York Chamber Players will perform Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring.
York College Rock Band: The Beatles
York College Rock Band
April 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Waldner Performing Arts Center
The York College Rock Band will be performing Beatles music and classic rock.

Chamber Voices
April 6 at 7:30 p.m.
DeMeester Recital Hall
In this concert, the Chamber Singers, Voca Bella, Rhapsody, and Enharmonix will be performing traditional and pop music.
York College wind symphony
Wind Symphony
April 8 at 3 p.m.
Waldner Performing Arts Center
The York College Wind Symphony will perform an assortment of medleys, current music, and British classics.
Groove Ensemble: Spring

April 12 at 7:30 p.m.
DeMeester Recital Hall
In this performance, the York College Groove Ensemble will perform music from Indonesia, South Africa, and West Africa.
British Isles
Songs of the British Isles
April 15 at 3 p.m.
Waldner Performing Arts Center
The York College Chorale and Chamber Singers will be performing songs from Ireland and Great Britain.
Jazz Ensemble
Jazz Ensemble
April 20 at 7:30 p.m.
DeMeester Recital Hall
In this concert, the York College Jazz Ensemble will perform jazz music by Count Basie, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, and Charles Mingus.
The Addams Family

In this production of The Addams Family, Wednesday Addams has fallen in love with a ‘normal’ man and asks her father not to tell Morticia.
Community Orchestra

The York College Community Orchestra will play classics and symphonic music.
