Led by dynamic music faculty members, state-of-the-art music facilities and three career-focused majors, music at York College is entering a new era of excitement and change. We provide music students with a unique combination of performance opportunities and academic studies within the liberal arts tradition. MAJORS IN MUSIC
Music
Accelerate your passion for music. Challenge yourself through strong music studies emphasizing performance, within the context of a liberal arts curriculum. You'll be preparing for career opportunities in a variety of musical areas, including performance and private studio teaching. Many graduates continue music studies in graduate school.
Music Education
Consider how much music means to you. Now consider how rewarding it could be to devote your professional life to teaching music to others. This degree leads to full certification in general music education, allowing graduates to teach music in public or private schools.
Music Industry and Recording Technology
The successful music producer is an accomplished musician involved in many aspects of the creation, recording, and marketing of music. This degree program balances studies in music, the music industry, business, and recording technology. If you're eager to embrace the many roles of a music producer, this program can help you develop the knowledge and judgment necessary for success.
Acceptance into each of these three degree programs requires a music audition, during which the prospective student must demonstrate his or her performing abilities. Please see our Auditions page for details.
