 Location:
Counseling Services is located on the lower level of the Student Union Building in rooms 120 and 122.  We are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. during regular academic semesters. Counseling Services are free to students and offer safe/confidential one-on-one counseling sessions, support groups/group counseling, screenings, a library of valuable information, and workshops on counseling-related issues.

Description:
As a department of The Student Affairs Division of York College of Pennsylvania, Counseling Services is devoted to supporting the unique, holistic development of York College students by offering assessment, individual/group counseling, educational programming and consultation, crisis intervention and referrals in an ever-changing environment.  This array of services is offered in a welcoming, confidential and comfortable setting that encourages students to exercise their responsibilities and take full advantage of these responsibilities in the context of a diverse population.  Counseling Services collaborates with the campus and community to advance/support vocational, emotional, social and cultural development of all students.  These services help individuals resolve personal difficulties and acquire attitudes, abilities and knowledge that enable them to fully participate and contribute to the York College community.

York College of Pennsylvania's Counseling Services are safe/confidential and in accordance with the American Counseling Association's Code of Ethics. Information will be released ONLY with a student's written permission or if a student's condition indicates clear and imminent danger to him/herself or to others. The decision of the degree of danger is up to the counselor's professional judgment and will usually be in consultation with another counselor and/or Student Affairs Division professional.

There is no fee for students at York College Counseling Services. Your student activities fee covers the expense for service. If there are additional counseling needs with a referral to an outside counselor, a cost may be incurred. Costs are often covered by your health insurance or they can be negotiated with the referral agency. Referrals to outside providers are made to address the specific or ongoing needs of our students.
