Health & Safety
As always, our primary goal is the safety of all York College students, faculty, and staff. To maintain a safe campus environment, everyone — regardless of vaccination status — will wear masks indoors. Please also keep in mind:
- The College is not requiring vaccinations to be on campus. However, we strongly recommend that all members of the campus community receive COVID-19 immunization and boosters.
- Students who are not vaccinated will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID test within three days of returning to campus for the semester.
- Students who are not up-to-date on vaccinations (including booster, if eligible) must participate in random surveillance testing throughout the semester. Surveillance testing will be free for student participants.
Quarantining
If you have been exposed to COVID, notify Health Services (students) or HR (employees) and:
- You are up-to-date on your vaccines: No need to quarantine. Wear a mask for 10 days, monitor symptoms, get tested on day 5.
- You have had COVID in the last 90 days: No need to quarantine. Wear a mask through day 10.
- You are not up-to-date on your vaccines: Quarantine for 5 days, get tested on day 5, and then return to class on day 6. Continue to wear a mask through day 10.
Isolating
If you have tested positive for COVID, regardless of vaccination status notify Health Services or HR (employees) and:
- Isolate for 5 days. Return to campus (class/work) on day 6 if you have improving symptoms and are fever-free for 24 hours. Continue to wear a mask through day 10.
What does "Up-to-Date" mean?
You are considered up-to-date on your vaccinations if you fulfill the following criteria:
- You have completed the primary series of either the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson vaccine
AND - You have received a booster, if eligible. (NOTE: You are eligible for a booster if you completed the primary series of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine over five months ago, or if you received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine over two months ago.)
