Ice Hockey Club
The Ice Hockey club team was founded in 2016 and practices 1-2 times per week at the York City Ice Arena, located about 1.5 miles from campus. The season mainly takes place during the fall semester, while finishing in late February. Games typically occur during the weekends and Friday nights.
The York College Ice Hockey club team is part of the Collegiate Hockey Federation DIII and DVCHC American Division, consisting of 26 teams. Our executive board consists of Club President Kendal Reynolds, Vice President Alec Krause, Treasurer Samuel Muehlbronner, Secretary Dylan McClure, and Parliamentarian Tristan Allmendinger.
Many Spartans over the years have earned prestigious awards. Samuel Muehlbronner has been awarded the “Defensive Player of the Year” for the Patriot Division of the DVCHC for three years straight. Head Coach Rick Guinan won DVCHC “Coach of the Year” twice in the club’s existence. Along with Trevor Cohenhour, who was awarded the “Finbarr O’Connor Award” for outstanding sportsmanship during the season.
In the 2018-2019 season the Spartans were the Patriot Division Championship Runner-Ups. The following year they fought their way back, with a record of 14-3-1, and were the 2019-2020 Patriot Division Champions for the first time in school history!
