An international trip like the one York College’s field hockey team took over Winter Break was an opportunity that attracts players looking for more in a collegiate program. It’s a trip the team looks back on fondly as trips like this have been delayed because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Abby Wurzbach ’23 and a group of about 10 other students in York College’s IMPACT York program were planning an open house for the Championship Community Center in Salem Square. The coronavirus outbreak changed those plans—but not without the students learning to find new ways to contribute.
From establishing a new routine to practicing gratitude and reaching out to talk, York College students are encouraged to take care of their mental health while adapting to the changes enforced because of the coronavirus.
While only a few years have passed since it was formed, the York College Ice Hockey club team has brought students together for the love of the sport and an outlet to decompress.
