Arts Administration (Minor)

Arts Administration focuses on non-profit management for arts organizations such as theatres, museums, and orchestras. Students with a love of the arts who plan to pursue a career in management will be able to design a minor that fits their specific interests while also applying their academic learning through a competitive internship or independent study. This minor complements theatre, music, and art majors nicely and works well with a business or hospitality major.

As a member of the Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE), YCP's program focuses on helping students discover what area of arts management they are interested in pursuing after graduation. Our program helps students to develop their capacities as executives, fundraisers, planners, marketers, and financial managers in the non-profit arts. Given the challenges for arts and cultural organizations to survive in an increasingly competitive business environment, the need for educated managers is increasing. Our program prepares students to balance aesthetic understanding with specialized skills in generating income, managing boards, stimulating public access, and sustaining the mission and vision of arts organizations. Students can start their real-world training on campus by managing the box office for all theatre events or by interning at the Cultural Alliance of York County, the Strand-Capitol Theatre or one of the many other non-profit arts organizations in our community.

YCP students gain hands-on experience working events hosted in WPAC.
