As a transfer student into our community, we recognize the importance of navigating through the transfer process. You'll find important information below about the transfer process, financial aid, and more.

You may feel anxious about the transfer process, but we have created a Transfer Resource Center to serve as a guide to answer questions you may have about transferring to York College. We make the process simple to transfer from both 2-year or 4-year institutions, including many articulation agreements throughout the region.   • Transferring

    How do I transfer to York?

    To transfer to York College, you must meet the following criteria:

    • A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is required. Select majors may have a higher GPA requirement. 
    • A maximum of 75 semester hours will be accepted in transfer from two-year colleges.
    • Students must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours at York College to be eligible to earn a degree.
    • Students admitted to the college with an associate's degree from another institution must satisfy all York College general education requirements not completed as transfer credit.
    • Transfer students are eligible for financial aid at the time of admission.

    Ready to Apply?

    To apply for admission submit the following:

    • An online application.
    • An official transcript of all academic work attempted, with a separate copy submitted from each college attended.
    • An official copy of your final high school (optional).

    If you have earned fewer than 15 semester hours of college credit you also are required to submit:

    • A high school transcript.
    • Scores from either the SAT or ACT.
  • Credit Evaluations

    Now that I've been accepted, what credits will transfer?

    Once you have been accepted by the Admissions Office, your transcripts will be evaluated in the Registrar's Office. We encourage you to schedule an appointment. Contact the Associate Registrar at 717.815.1448.

  • Affordability

    Transfer Scholarship

    • Scholarships ranges from $1,000 to $7,000 per year
    • You are automatically considered for a scholarship when you apply to York
    • Scholarship award is for up to three years, (six full-time, continuous semesters, excluding summers and Study Abroad), toward one undergraduate degree
    • Full-time accepted transfer students
    • A minimum grade point average of 2.00 is required to renew the scholarship each year for up to three years (six full-time, continuous semesters, excluding summers)
    • Student must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident to qualify
    • Students under disciplinary suspension lose future merit scholarship eligibility
    • All information is subject to change in the federal/state regulations and York College policy

    The Net Price Calculator will estimate your eligibility for financial aid and show how your cost of attending an affordable college may be reduced with scholarships, grants and student loans. Your “net price” is the difference between the cost of attendance (tuition, room, board, etc.) and your financial aid.

    Transfers Tuesdays - All About You

    We encourage you to join us for Transfer Tuesday! Join us on select Tuesdays to get an overview of the college and admissions procedures, transfer credits, and financial aid.  This session also provides a chance to meet one-on-one with our transfer team. Our typical Information Sessions are led by a member of the Admissions Team, who will give you an overview of the College procedures. The session is then followed by an optional tour of the campus with one of our Student Ambassadors. He or she will be able to show you our numerous facilities and answer any questions you have about student life, sports and campus organizations!

Placement Test Information

  • Math Placement Assessment

    York College offers several math courses tailored to prepare you for the quantitative activities you will pursue in your major. The mathematics placement assessments are designed to help determine which math course is right for you.  Students may need to complete the math placement assessments before they can schedule classes.

    Which math assessment do I take?

    All majors (including Undeclared) will take the Algebra Assessment. However, you only need to take the Calculus Assessment if you are currently declared or interested in declaring one of the following majors:

    • Chemistry
    • Forensic Chemistry
    • Civil Engineering
    • Computer Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Computer Science
    • Cybersecurity Management
    • Engineering Management
    • Mathematics
    • Mid-Level Education Mathematics
    • Secondary Education Biology
    • Secondary Education General Science
    • Secondary Education Mathematics

    What to expect with the assessment

    Each assessment has 33 questions and you will have 180 minutes to complete each test. If you need, you may take an assessment a total of two (2) times. A calculator may be used during the assessment.

    If you are interrupted or lose internet service, you'll be able to resume where you left off as long as you log back into the assessment within the same day.

    How can I take the assessment? 

    • Go to the Stemify website to take the exam. Click on YCP.
    • Enter your MyYCP username and password.
    • The menu located in the upper left corner of your screen will provide you access to the Learning Library (available for you to review many relevant math concepts that will help you to be successful) and the Placement tests.
