Fall Orientation for 2023 is August 17 through August 20, 2023
No registration is required for Fall Orientation. Because there are no fees for attending the orientation program, we automatically enroll all incoming students and will have a schedule prepared for you upon check-in.
*Fall Orientation is required for all new students. This time will serve to prepare students for the social and academic transitions into campus life.
Adult Learners (Students who are over 23 years of age and do not live on campus) are welcome to attend our modified Adult Learner Program in lieu of the full orientation program.
For students entering in the spring semester, York College offers a modified orientation program the day before classes begin in January. During this time, we invite students to campus to review college services, policies and meet with academic advisors.
We have designed this orientation program to facilitate your transition to York College, provide vital information about campus life and academics, and to introduce you to faculty, staff, and other students. It is our goal to assist you in making connections to resources and individuals in our supportive Spartan community.
All segments of this Orientation program are important and informative. There will be no makeup session provided. Student leaders, faculty, staff and administrators will be available to assist you with your questions. We encourage both new and transfer students to take advantage of this opportunity to become acquainted with all YCP has to offer.
New Spartan Days - Summer Orientation marks a major step where you are officially moving past high school and taking action as a York College of Pennsylvania student. Summer Orientation parking will be located in the commuter lot located on Main Campus. Campus Safety will direct guests to the parking area.
Parking on main campus during Orientation is at a premium. Upon arriving to the main entrance you will be greeted by one of our campus safety officers and shown the best route to your assigned building. They will also provide instructions about unloading and re-parking cars after they are unloaded.
Families are welcome to accompany students during the move-in and/or check-in process. Families and guests are then invited to attend the Academic Convocation and Parting Reception. Following the Parting reception, Families and Guests are able to depart campus as Students begin their student-only orientation program.
Everything you need for Summer Orientation will be provided. As a reminder, be sure to take your math placement and foreign language placement tests prior to orientation so you can schedule your classes. (Note: More information regarding the placement tests will be available after May 1)

This answer is easy... all of them!
Orientation is for ALL new students at YCP and is NOT based around residency status. There are only two exceptions: Orientation check-in and the Student Specific Session.
Check-in: As a commuter, since you do not need to move your belongings, you won't need to pick up your orientation materials quite as early, so your check-in time is any time from 12 - 1 p.m. on August 18. This will occur on West Campus at the Lower Grumbacher Entrance (Enter from Richland Ave.)
The rest of the Orientation schedule will have you in your Orientation groups which will contain both residents and commuters together -- and the content is applicable, and often required, of all students.
