York College Changemakers

Be the change your community needs

Changemakers are a diverse group of York College student volunteers who innovate and cultivate sustainable social change through strengths-centered community partnerships. Changemakers include Eisenhart Community Scholars, Impact York, Hope Scholars, the York College Promise program, and others.

As a Changemaker, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Earn a scholarship that helps to support your education while you support our community.
  • Build connections with community service organizations and leaders.
  • Work together in teams to attain common goals: to serve your community, learn about diverse populations, and to make a difference.
  • Through your work in the community, gain skills and achieve accomplishments that help prepare you for your future.
  • Advance your skills as a dynamic volunteer in a First-Year Seminar.
  • Live in a vibrant residential community where you can attend fun programs and connect with other folks who are committed to making a difference.

Changemaker Teams

  • Impact York

Impact York changemakers are committed to making a difference through volunteer engagement, both on campus and throughout the York region! Through their participation in Impact York, these students bring campus and community members together to raise awareness and support for issues that impact their community.

  • Eisenhart Community Scholars

Eisenhart Community Scholars work in small groups to lead service initiatives in our community. Like our other scholar groups, they learn Design Thinking, but they also have focused training on volunteer management, servant leadership, and the needs of the York community. They use this training to lead programs and projects in the community over the course of their college career.

  • Hope Scholars

The Hope Scholars program promotes engagement and equity through education. Hope Scholars engage in leadership of programs that support underserved, vulnerable populations with the intention of providing new opportunities for groups or individuals within those groups. They believe that increasing access to, and supporting, educational attainment is primary among those opportunities.

  • York College Promise

The York College Promise provides eligible graduates from York County high schools with an opportunity to attend college as part of a cohort of fellow program participants who will live and learn together on campus. Participants receive personalized support with academic advising, work-study job opportunities, and free tuition toward their cost of attendance at York College.
