Urban Planning Certificate

Develop. Enhance. Protect.

Whether you are a seasoned professional or just starting your career, our five-course, post-baccalaureate Urban Planning Certificate program will provide you with the necessary foundation to succeed in the planning field.

Urban planners work in government agencies, nonprofit organizations, or the private sector, and can specialize in a variety of areas including land use, economic development, housing, and transportation. They help residents to develop vibrant communities, promote equitable access to resources and services, and preserve and protect the built environment.

Offered as a stand-alone certificate or as a concentration within the Master of Public Policy and Administration program, the Urban Planning Certificate will provide you with the skills you need to develop and propose actionable solutions to improve your community. Through the program, you’ll also be able to network with government officials and other leaders, with a focus on the challenges and opportunities that exist not only in York but in many similar third-tier cities.

The program is designed with working professionals in mind and utilizes a flexible, hybrid delivery model. Classes are held in the evening in downtown York and can be attended virtually.
