Public Administration Minor

Public administration refers to the institutions and individuals that are responsible for carrying into action government policies passed by legislative bodies. From the largest national and state programs spending millions of dollars to connect public schools to the Internet, to the smallest local ordinances requiring dogs to be walked on leashes, the administration of such decisions relies on the actions of bureaucrats. Public administration is bureaucracy in action.  The term bureaucracy usually carries a negative connotation in today society. It conjures up visions of red tape, paper shuffling, impersonal treatment, and frustrated citizens.  But it is responsible for providing so much of what citizens take for granted. Bureaucracy, simply stated, means putting power and authority in the hands of government bureaus, departments, offices, agencies, and administrations.
