Jennifer Pomeroy, Ph.D.
Meet Jennifer Pomeroy
Guided by a student-centered teaching philosophy, Dr. Jason Pomeroy is a passionate and dedicated Associate Professor of Geography at York College of Pennsylvania. His teaching focuses on physical geography, systems dynamics & thinking, Geographic Information Systems (GIS)/geospatial technology, urban geography, land-use land-cover change(LULCC), and sustainability. Her research leverages applied GIS and spatial analysis to address complex real-world challenges, including community-grounded mapping & modeling, sustainability education across the U.S. and Asia, urban forestry, and downscaled climate mitigation. Additionally, Dr. Pomeroy collaborates on several national security and intelligence research projects, co-authoring many federally recognized books that apply spatial frameworks to homeland security. She maintains a strong commitment to leadership and community engagement. He previously served as Chair of YCP’s President’s Task Force for Campus Sustainability—earning recognition as a 2023 Pennsylvania Environmental Resource Consortium (PERC) Campus Sustainability Champion—and led the Pennsylvania Geographical Society as President from 2017 to 2023. She regularly partners with regional organizations to develop custom geo-databases and interactive digital StoryMaps for local initiatives.
