Campus Comes Together to Mark Mental Health Awareness Week
York College will mark Mental Health Awareness Week (April 29 – May 3) with a series of events sponsored by student organizations and student services.
Counseling Services will offer a Mindful Moment with Karen Jones via Zoom from 9 to 9:10 a.m. on April 29, May 1 and 3.
They will also host an End-of-Semester Cool Off (snow cones, bubbles, balloon art and stress relievers) by the creek from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 1.
Student Senate has scheduled activities in the Iosue Student Union daily from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Monday - Keep the Good, Throw Out the Bad (body positivity activity)
- Tuesday – Voice of Resilience: Empowering Suicide Awareness Bracelets
- Wednesday – Take What You Need – Nice Notes and Blue Ribbons (mental health awareness activity)
- Thursday – Spread the Love Flowers and Notes (create notes on flowers to be distributed on Friday)
- Friday – Flowers with Notes distributed around campus
Student Accessibility Services will bring Therapy Dogs to the Student Union lawn from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 30.
The Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion will host Pizza and Pups from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 2 in their office in the lower level of the Student Union.
CAB (College Activities Board) will present a mindfulness speaker from 4 to 5 p.m. on April 29 in Weinstock Lecture Hall, Willman Business Center.
The group will also host Stress Busters from 4 to 8 p.m. and Bingo from 9 to 10 p.m. on May 3.
Newman Club will host Frisbee from 3 to 5 p.m. on the Student Union lawn on April 30.
Psychology Club will present Take a Note, Leave a Note and Positive Affirmation Banner from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. on May 3.
Campus Recreation will host outdoor yoga at Kinsley Field from 1 to 2 p.m. and 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on April 29 and from 1 to 2 p.m. on May 1.
They will also provide fitness options in the Grumbacher Center:
- Rock Wall - 5 to 11 p.m. on April 29, 30, May 1, 2
- Zumba - 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on April 30 and May 2
Club Soccer will present Knocker-Soccer from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 2
