Mott Earns First and Second Team All-American Honors in Shot Put and Discus
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Spartan senior thrower Andrew Mott showcased his talent at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, earning both first and second team All-American honors in the discus and shot put events.
On Thursday, Mott secured first team All-American status in the discus, finishing seventh with a top throw of 51.06m (167' 6"), which came on his second attempt of six. That seventh place finish earned him first team All-American honors as the top-eight performers qualify for first-team accolades.
Continuing his success, Mott competed in the shot put on Friday, clinching second team All-American status. He finished ninth with a top throw of 16.39m (53' 9.25"). Mott narrowly missed first-team honors and a spot on the top-eight podium by just 9.25 inches; this finish still earned him second-team All-American recognition as the top-16 performers are acknowledged.
The Spartan senior caps his career as a two-time outdoor NCAA All-American and a three-time All-American performer overall with a seventh-place finish in the shot put at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships. He holds both the indoor and outdoor school records for the shot put, as well as the discus record. He also holds the overall discus record for the Middle Atlantic Conference with a distance of 43.42m
