1. Rocking Chair Ganesha
Dr. Reddi says the statue is a recent gift from her cousin. It is a rare statue of Lord Ganesha in a rocking chair reading a book. Lord Ganesha is the Hindu god of knowledge, new beginnings, and the remover of obstacles.
2. Mini Fridge
This unusual-looking small red fridge is one of the main attractions in Dr. Reddi’s office. It was a gift to herself to celebrate the start of the semester.
3. Diversity Calendar
The “Oh Happy Dani Collection” calendar of beautiful artwork and inspirational words around diversity highlights Dr. Reddi’s teaching about race, media, and culture.
4. UNC Mug
Dr. Reddi’s favorite piece of merchandise from her alma mater, UNC, is her mug. She says it includes “fun drawings of all the highlights of UNC’s campus.”
5. Clipping from Charlottesville, Virginia Daily Progress Newspaper
This serves as a happy memory from when Dr. Reddi presented her art exhibit “That ABCD Life” at the Kluge Ruhe Aboriginal Art Museum in her hometown of Charlottesville. The photo exhibition explored various questions around identity associated with people who are split between two cultures.
