York College, MANTEC Announce New Partnership as Knowledge Park Continues to Help Area Growth
York College of Pennsylvania and MANTEC are proud to announce a partnership that will continue to grow and advance business and student opportunities in the York area for years to come.
MANTEC will move its headquarters and training facility into York College’s brand-new Knowledge Park facility.
Knowledge Park is a newly renovated, state-of-the-art building that dates back to the 1800s. It used to be a paper mill. It is now dedicated to fostering innovation, research, and business acceleration within the community while providing students with practical learning experiences.
York College officially opened the Knowledge Park in October 2024, and many tenants have already committed to making the space their home. MANTEC will soon move in as well. The company is a not-for-profit industrial resource center aiming to grow manufacturers’ global footprint in productivity and innovation.
“Innovation. That’s why MANTEC’s mission goes hand-in-hand with the goals of Knowledge Park. We are natural partners,” Jeff Vermeulen, Chief of Staff to York College President Dr. Thomas Burns, said. “We can’t wait to get started.”
York College recently received a $349,978 statewide Local Share Agreement (LSA) grant for that very purpose. The money will be used to continue updating MANTEC’s footprint within Knowledge Park to fit the organization’s specifications.
“This grant will accelerate the move by MANTEC and free up resources to apply to our core initiatives and expand each: Process Improvement, Workforce Engagement, Sales & Marketing, and Manufacturing Technology,” MANTEC CEO Bruce Newell said.
MANTEC and York College aim to bridge the gap between students and manufacturers by giving students real-world experience in Engineering, Hard Sciences, Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, and much more.
“Linking students to actual companies in the area, on our campus, while they are still in school will provide a truly unique student experience,” Vermeulen said. “York College students can get professional experience with local job creators before they graduate, without having to leave campus.”
“Having students and faculty work with MANTEC and the manufacturers having access to the collective intellectual horsepower of those connections is a win-win scenario,” Newell said.
Renovation of MANTEC’s space in Knowledge Park is set to start soon. The company hopes to move in by late Spring.
