York College of PA names Jada Richardson of York as inaugural Director of the Urban Collaborative
August 08, 2022York College has named Jada Richardson of York, who earned a Master of Public Policy and Administration from the College in 2021, as the inaugural Director of the Urban Collaborative.
Richardson previously worked as Equity and Inclusion Community Planner for the York County Planning Commission, as a Research Assistant for York College’s Arthur G. The Urban Collaborative is a donor-supported initiative of the Center for Community Engagement that places students and faculty from multiple disciplines in project-based research that tangibly supports and improves quality of life in York City. Still in the start-up phase, the Collaborative has focused for three years on research, information gathering, and finding ways to promote equitable housing and healthy neighborhoods without displacing residents.
In her new role, Richardson will work with community partners to identify community-based research opportunities for York College students and faculty to address needs in the city of York. She serves on the York City Human Relations Commission, York City Planning Commission, and the board of DreamWrights Center for Community Arts. Richardson is a York City native with family roots dating back to the 1920s, as well as an alumna of the School District of the City of York.
“We are so pleased to welcome Jada, whose experiences make her eminently qualified for this role,” said Dominic DelliCarpini, Dean of the Center for Community Engagement and Interim Executive Director of the Graham Center for Collaborative Innovation. “As a York native, an expert in public policy, and a woman who is passionate about equity and the collective action needed to achieve it, Jada can help bring these efforts to the next level.”
