York College of PA Students Create Exhibit Based on Research into York’s Potter’s Field

alt

York College of Pennsylvania students who researched the stories of those buried in York’s Potter’s Field have created an exhibit that will open May 5 at the Center for Community Engagement, 59 East Market Street, York. An opening reception is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. Both the reception and exhibit are open to the public free of charge.

“Who Has the Right to Memorialization in Death?: Recovering the Stories of Those Buried in York’s Potter's Field” builds upon the work done for Project Penny Heaven, an effort led by York College alumna Jamie Noerpel to remember and recognize those buried in unmarked graves in the field adjacent to Prospect Hill Cemetery. The students involved are enrolled in a Museum Studies course taught by Dr. Jacqueline Beatty.
