York College of PA to Present Robotics Workshop for High School Students on July 8 and 9
York College’s Engineering and Computer Science programs will present a Robotics Workshop for high school students entering grades 9, 10, or 11 for the 2022-2023 school year. The workshop is scheduled on July 8 and 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kinsley Engineering Center. Interested students should complete an application by May 31. The camp is limited to 20 participants and the cost is $50. Accepted applicants will be notified by email on June 10; additional information will be shared at that time. Questions should be directed to kinsleyschool@ycp.edu.
Participants will learn about sensing, computing, and robotics using the open-source electronics platform, Arduino, mBots, Humanoids, and bio-inspired sensors. By getting hands-on experience with sensors and motors, they will control m-Bots and humanoids. Teams of two will learn to program their robot to navigate a maze. Each team will have the opportunity to share their accomplishments. The workshop will culminate in a competition between the robots as they maneuver the maze. The workshop will be led by York College Engineering and Computer Science faculty and students.
