York College of Pennsylvania’s Marketview Arts (37 West Philadelphia Street) is hosting an exhibition by McKinley Wallace III, “Thick Blue Line,” from January 6 through February 23. An artist talk and closing reception will begin at 5 p.m. on Feb. 23. Events are open to the public free of charge. The artwork in this exhibition is for sale; inquiries should be made at the visitor desk in The Shop.
Based in Baltimore, Wallace is a mixed-media painter whose art depicts strength expounded by the oppressed and an educator dedicated to cultivating people-oriented environments that foster inclusive community building and high-quality learning. In this exhibition, he uses the color blue to represent peace, tension, or the abuse of power depending on placement, size, or shade.
Wallace earned a master’s degree in teaching and a BFA in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
