Cybersecurity Management

Security Starts With Keeping Information Safe.

Cybersecurity is one of the fastest growing career fields in the country, and for good reason. The livelihood of today’s organizations — from private businesses to publicly traded companies, healthcare providers to government agencies — depends on their protection of digital information and prevention of cyberattacks.

In York College’s Cybersecurity Management program, you’ll combine your understanding of technology with skills in strategic communication and management. You’ll also develop insight into the origins of cyberthreat as you pursue one of four specializations: strategy, operational security, intelligence analysis, or criminal justice. 

The annual economic impact of cybercrime exceeds $6 trillion, causing demand for cybersecurity management professionals to increase exponentially from year to year. Job openings in information security and the cybersecurity industry are projected to grow at a rate of more than 30% from 2019-2029 (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). Majoring in Cybersecurity Management will give you the tools you need to be successful in this high-growth field.

    Master’s Degrees for Cybersecurity Management Majors

    As a major in Cybersecurity Management, you may also choose to pursue a 4+1 program during your time at York College. Depending on your level of professional experience, this option allows you to complete both a B.S. in Cybersecurity Management and an M.A. in Strategic Leadership and Management in just five years.

    Cybersecurity Management Salary Information

    Cybersecurity careers come with a range of salaries, depending on which industry you’re working in and where you are in your career — but in general, salaries in this field are high. 

    According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median salary for an information security analyst is $103,590 per year. Other cybersecurity professionals see similar median salaries, including database administrators ($98,860 per year) and information systems managers ($151,150 per year).

    As a Cybersecurity Management major, you’ll have the option to take an internship for credit, gaining real work experience in either the private or public sector. 

    In the past, students have completed internships in a variety of industries, including the national intelligence community and the NSA’s formal student internship program.

In addition to working closely with faculty members who care about helping you to achieve your goals, you’ll learn how to form good networking relationships with professionals in your industry.

    During their senior year, students will work directly with one of their professors to complete a formal research project on the topic of an emerging issue in cybersecurity.
