The series highlights the College’s commitment to enriching cultural experiences for the campus and the wider York community.

Art Exhibitions

The series starts with “There’s Something Happening Here,” an exhibition at the York College Galleries running through November 16, 2024. This collection of iconic posters from the late 1960s and early 1970s showcases the turbulent social history of the era through vibrant graphic design. The Galleries will also host the Fall Senior Exhibition from December 6 to 18, 2024, featuring the final projects of seniors in Fine Art and Graphic Design, a testament to their formal and conceptual growth.

At Marketview Arts, the fall exhibitions begin with “Returning: An Alumni Exhibition,” which runs through October 5, 2024. This curated show features recent works by York College alumni, demonstrating their continued dedication to artistic exploration and growth. Following this, the Mt. Gretna School of Art: Four Pillars Exhibition will be on display from October 18, 2024, to January 18, 2025, highlighting the work of artists who participated in this prestigious residency program.

Music Performances

The Music program will present a diverse lineup of performances, beginning with the York College Fall Concert on October 6, 2024, at the Waldner Performing Arts Center. Additional highlights include the York College Choral Voices on November 3, 2024, and the York College Jazz Ensemble on November 15, 2024. The series also features a special guest recital, “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” on December 5, 2024, with music from Vince Guaraldi’s classic holiday score performed by a talented trio of musicians.

Humanities Film Series

The Humanities Film Series offers thought-provoking screenings throughout the fall. Other screenings include a selection of short films by Harrisburg-based filmmaker Caleb Smith on October 24, 2024, and the award-winning film “Sweet Thing,” presented by Editor Alan Wu on November 21, 2024.
