Winter Intersession

Winter Intersession is a three-week academic experience scheduled in January, during which the College offers a selection of online courses. This is a great opportunity to earn extra credits toward your degree, or perhaps retake a course to improve a grade.

New Students

Dual-enrolled and non-matriculated students who wish to enroll for Winter Intersession must apply. Our Admissions team can provide further information about the enrollment process or help you to submit an application

Current Students

Go to MyYCP and sign into the York College portal. 

  • Click on YCPWeb. 
  • Click on Student Services
  • Select Registration
  • Select Add/Drop Classes
  • Select a Term, and then enter your CRNs in the spaces available at the bottom of the page.

Winter Intersession is part of the spring semester, and the total number of credits registered will determine full or part-time status.

Check the Schedule of Classes for Winter Intersession course offerings. Students are limited to taking a maximum of one course during the Intersession term.

Please note your eligibility for Winter Intersession and the billing for Winter Intersession depends on your status:

Continuing full-time undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 12 credits in Winter Intersession and the Spring semester combined. For billing purposes, we will combine your Winter Intersession and Spring credits and you will be billed the full-time tuition rate up to 18 credits. Any credits over 18 (across the Winter Intersession and the Spring terms) will be billed at $620 per credit.

Continuing part-time undergraduate students will be permitted to take a Winter Intersession course and you will be billed at the per credit rate.

Available CIC-OL Courses

There are a limited number of Intersession courses that are offered in collaboration with a partner college identified as CIC-OL.  Students taking any of these courses will be assessed an additional fee.

CIC-OL Course Descriptions

CIC/Acadeum Consortium/Online Courses

Updated: Winter Intersession 2022 

  • Registration for CIC/Acadeum courses begins on December 9, 2021 
  • CIC/Acadeum courses run from December 16, 2021 to January 7, 2022 
  • The last day to drop a CIC course is December 17, 2021 
  • An additional online fee of $750 applies for each CIC course 
CIC 108.901 Astronomy I 

This course explores the fundamental concepts of astronomy, including historical perspectives as well as current interpretation of celestial phenomena. Includes comparison of other planets with Earth, and examines stars, stellar life cycles, galaxies, and cosmology. Hands-on lab exercises are integrated into the course. 4 hours per week. 

*will satisfy the GenNext requirement for Disciplinary Perspectives--Natural and Physical Sciences 

CIC 109.901 Earth Science 

An introduction to the study of the Earth, emphasizing processes that shape and change the surface. This course studies the lithosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere, including effects of pollution and remediation efforts. Hands-on laboratory exercises are integrated into the course. 4 hours per week. 

*will satisfy the GenNext requirement for Disciplinary Perspectives--Natural and Physical Sciences

The residence halls will not be open during Winter Intersession, as all classes are online. No exceptions will be made allowing students to stay on campus for Intersession courses.

Yes. If it snows, we use remote tools so it doesn’t interrupt your learning.

Unfortunately, the Grumbacher Center will not be open during this time period. There are, however, many outdoor fitness opportunities in the area (walking/biking the Rail Trail, hiking in any number of York County parks, etc.).
