York College of Pennsylvania’s Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program is a Master of Science program designed to prepare nurses to specialize in the diagnosis and management of common and complex medical conditions for adolescents and adults.
An Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) Primary Care is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who provides care in ambulatory and long-term care settings. While focusing on health promotion and disease prevention, AGNPs acquire advanced skills in health assessment, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic health problems. AGNPs in primary care deliver comprehensive care to young, middle, and older adults in a variety of settings with an emphasis on outpatient care.
Growth in the population of older persons in the U.S. and worldwide has created a demand for professionals with specialized knowledge in the field of aging. The Aging Studies Minor is a 15-credit interdisciplinary minor open to all majors. Three foundational courses are required because of the biopsychosocial nature of the aging process. Students choose two additional 3-credit courses from various disciplines to complete the minor. Courses within the minor may also be taken individually as electives. The Aging Studies Minor encourages students in various academic majors to expand their knowledge and professional development related to aging and older adulthood.

Students in York’s flexible Exercise Science program select a focused degree concentration to enhance their education and experience in either professional practice or fitness management. The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Program prepares nurses to practice as Family Nurse Practitioner. It builds on undergraduate education through the development of advanced knowledge and expertise, based on the critique and application of theory and research. The Master of Science in Nursing Program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and thus adheres to CCNE standards, which inform curriculum development, course sequencing, and all other program elements.
Qualifications for participation in a post-master’s certificate track include completion of both the baccalaureate and an advanced practice master’s degree in nursing from a CNEA or CCNE-accredited program at a regionally accredited institution, or an equivalent institution, as determined by graduate faculty in The Stabler Department of Nursing faculty.

The minor in Healthcare Administration is designed to provide students with a background in healthcare and ethical and administrative issues related to health care. The minor is most appropriate for students interested in clinical and health-related fields (e.g. nursing, health professions, or medicine), professional fields (e.g. business administration or management), or the social sciences (e.g. sociology, political science, or psychology), giving these students an understanding of the healthcare industry and the impact of business and government on that industry.
York’s degree in Medical Imaging includes invaluable clinical experience, with three professional tracks in Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT), Radiography, and Diagnostic Medical Sonography. With successful completion of the didactic and clinical requirements, graduates of the York College of Pennsylvania Nurse Anesthetist Program will be awarded a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. Upon graduation, you'll be eligible to take the National Certification Exam to become a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) by the National Board on Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).

Registered nurses who graduated from an accredited program, and meet program requirements are eligible for direct articulation into the Nursing program.
The Minor in Nutrition is designed for students interested in understanding food and how it affects health. Students in the minor develop knowledge and skills that supplement their major and that are helpful for improving overall health in individuals and communities. Completing the Nutrition Minor improves a student’s marketability in many professional paths, including public health, nursing, exercise science, psychology, hospitality, business, education, health professions, and sports and recreational management. The minor also prepares students to pursue graduate training or research in dietetics and nutrition, and to enhance their personal understanding of rapidly changing messages about diet and health.
The Outdoor Leadership Minor combines leadership principles with outdoor knowledge, skills, and activities. Students will learn concepts and techniques for designing and leading outdoor activities, events, and experiences. Coursework for the minor provides a variety of opportunities for experiential, hands-on learning and leading while engaging in outdoor recreation pursuits such as backpacking, camping, flatwater paddling, rock climbing, and wilderness first aid.
