Lifelong Learning Instructors

Join Our Teaching Community

Lifelong Learning Initiative instructors are passionate volunteers who share their expertise with our community. If you are comfortable speaking publicly, can organize a 90-minute course, and have a topic our members would find engaging, we invite you to join us.

Ask any of our instructors and they'll tell you, teaching at York College's LLI is a highlight of their week. Our members bring a lifetime of experience and a maturity to the classroom that makes every session unique. It's teaching in its purest form, no tests, no grades, just passionate people learning for fun.

As a volunteer instructor, you enjoy full creative and scheduling flexibility. Whether you're choosing the semester, the number of sessions, or your preferred time of day, we work closely with you to ensure a rewarding experience for both you and our LLI members. To support your growth, our Education Manager facilitates a streamlined evaluation process, providing you with the timely, constructive feedback you need to refine your teaching.

In appreciation for sharing your talents, you'll receive a free annual LLI membership ($50 value) to enjoy our other LLI opportunities. Rest assured, your creative work remains yours; York College respects that your expertise and materials belong to you.

Completing our online course proposal form takes about ten minutes. The process is straightforward if you have your course title, brief course description, and a short biography prepared. Should you have any questions before submitting, please contact us at lli@ycp.edu. After submission you will receive an email with confirmation of receipt.
